What is the Philosophical Relationship Between the Teacher and the Student

Ben

My inquiry question was: What is the philosophical relationship between the teacher and the student? After doing some research on this question I have concluded that the philosophical relationship between the teacher and the students begins with developing a mutual trust. This is the basis for a relationship between the teacher and the student. Furthermore, both the teacher and the student rely upon each other to be successful. Like how the student is the one being taught and the teacher is the one teaching, without one the other can’t be completely successful.

There are a variety of ways I will apply this newfound information into my practice. I will include activities that help develop a positive relationship between myself and my students. These included welcoming my students as they walk into the classroom at the beginning of the day, having morning meetings before we get underway, and tell personal stories about myself to the class so that they can see that I’m not just a teacher and I have a life outside of the classroom. Perhaps the biggest strategy I will apply to my practice will be to celebrate the small wins with my students. I have seen firsthand how positively this makes students feel, and I want to encourage and incorporate this into my classroom so that my students can feel good about everything successful they do regardless of how large or small they may be. By applying these strategies into my classroom, I believe I can create a positive learning environment with positive philosophical relationships between myself and my students.
